Social distancing can't stop us from fighting for healthy moms and babies who need us now more than ever. This year, #MarchForBabies is going virtual - so everyone, anywhere - can Step Up! with us

By joining March for Babies Step Up! you can fundraise in new, exciting ways, including through our new step-counting app and with fun virtual fundraising challenges. Please see the section titled; How can I fundraise? below.

During this time of urgency given the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for March for Babies to Step Up! its support is even more critical. Babies can’t wait. Moms can’t wait.

What is the March of Dimes?

The March of Dimes Foundation is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. It was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938, as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio. It has since taken up promoting general health for pregnant women and babies.

How do I join a pre-existing team?

You may join a pre-existing team by registering at www.marchforbabies.org/universityofhouston

How do I create a new team?

I'm Team Captain, what now?

Once your team is registered you can begin fundraising immediately. Also, there will be a March of Dimes UH Kickoff Luncheon on February 28, 2020, just for Team Captains that will give you tons of ideas for fundraising and engagement efforts. More information for this event will be sent once your team is registered.

Are there registration fees?

Yes, it is registration & donation; $25 per participant

For example, a team of 10 walkers can raise $250

How can I fundraise?

To get Started: 

  1. Register here at marchforbabies.org by clicking "JOIN THIS EVENT".
  2. After registering, download the app.
  3. Start stepping and share your story using #MarchforBabies and #MFBStepUp!
  4. Request pledges from friends and family via the app – don't be shy!
  5. Visit the app daily and watch for challenges to participate in throughout the campaign.
  6. And don’t forget to make your own donation!

By fundraising for March for Babies, you help support moms and babies during COVID-19 and beyond.

Your support helps:

  • Research for COVID-19 treatments ensuring they are inclusive and safe for pregnant and lactating women.
  • Fundraising and advocacy efforts needed to help those families impacted by COVID-19.
  • Resources and training for doctors and nurses in the ICU and NICU who are fighting tirelessly for moms and babies every day.
  • Development of educational materials for moms-to-be and families about what they should know to protect themselves.

I’ve raised money, now what?

You can submit funds raised for the March of Dimes walk in two ways.

1. Go to any Wells Fargo in the greater Houston area and ask for a March of Dimes Deposit slip and on that form specify that you are donating on behalf of the University of Houston.

2. Attend one of our Bank Days on campus. We’ll have a March of Dimes & UH representative present to collect & count funds.

 Bank Day information will be disseminated to team captains after their team is registered.
